Relationship, Marriage and Couple Counseling

EQ counseling and Testing LLC offers marriage and couple counseling to couples who experiences relationship conflict and strains. One or both wonder if there is a hope to stay and save their relationship. Relationship conflict usually rises  when an event  has occurred that led to disagreement , loss of trust and respect for one another.  The likelihood that  over time disagreements have escalated and resentment manifested  to the point where both and either partner will question whether they ever again regain the trust they had in their relationship and if they should stay or leave.
It will be beneficial to involve an objective third party to intervene to introduce clarity among partners. Although working through difficult feelings as a couple can sound anxiety provoking, more often than not it turns into an intimate experience that strengthens and deepens the relationship.

Note: In case of one partner opposes to participate in counseling, the one who does still can seek counseling to gain perspective to their relationship, to their role that contributes to the strained relationship with their partner, and lastly  makes an  informative decision whether to stay and or leave in  an amicable manner.
The duration of time for marriage and couple counseling may range with the average of 4-6 sessions. The session length range from one hour an half to  two hours .

Relationship Counseling
divorce
“There is no quick solution to the pain of divorce; however, there is a process to recovery, to regain control of one’s life….”

Divorce Counseling

Divorce is a time of crisis which often feels devastating. During this time it is understandable that everything feels uncertain. The feelings that most individuals struggle with are loss of control, anger, loneliness, guilt, and a sense of hopelessness and helplessness.

Divorce counseling is strongly recommended by most courts throughout the United States.  Counselors or therapists cannot make problems instantly disappear, however, counseling does enable one to clearly identify factors complicating recovery, offers new perspectives and helps one objectively clarify viable options.

“Children are often exposed to a situation where they believe they must please both parents.”

Divorce Counseling for Children

Parents are also concerned about how divorce will affect their children. The impact that divorce has on children varies greatly.
Parents can unknowingly exert pressure on their children when they themselves are overwhelmed with the divorce process. Children do not usually verbalize how they truly feel but may suffer quietly and begin to act out at some later time.

Framework of practice
One of the “tools” we use is Solution-Focused therapy, a short-term approach which focuses on the process of problem solving. The counselor and client will work to together to uncover the client’s own natural solutions which are often obscured by emotional pain.

Issues of concern to address:

  • Relieve anxiety, stress and depression

  • Solve problems and resolve conflicts
